Tour of Skåne (Self Drive Holiday)
Skåne is one of the most accessible locations in Sweden with regular flights serving Malmö and Copenhagen. The construction of the Öresund Bridge has brought prosperity and diversity to Malmö and the Skåne region. As you cross the bridge from Copenhagen towards Malmö you have an amazing view of Malmö and the Turning Torso, Sweden's tallest building.
Attractions around Malmö and Skåne include many kilometers of sandy beaches, The Western Harbour in Malmö, picturesque coastal towns & villages including Simrishamn and Åhus. The most beautiful garden in Europe (2010) is in Skåne. Soferio Palace is set in a jaw dropping location close to Helsingborg. The historic and university town of Lund is also worth a visit as is the Mölle Penninsular for dramatic scenic views. The cities of Malmö & Copenhagen add a more cosmopolitan perspective to this holiday.
Ystad, a quiet coastal town in the south, has become famous following the success of Henning Mankells books featuring DCI Kurt Wallander (played by Kenneth Branagh in the UK TV series). It is now possible to follow 'in Wallandars footsteps' with guided tours of featured locations.

Itinerary
Welcome to Skåne and welcome to the Swedish countryside. At Ängavallen you will stay in a comfortable hotel on an organic farm, close to the coast and the city. Ecology and gastronomy go hand in hand here. At Ängavallen the animals are treated with the greatest respect. The fact is that the way in which they are reared is unique throughout the world! As human beings we can also enjoy the beautiful countryside, but at the same time we are able to capture the aroma of the herb garden's produce to be used in the restaurant along with raw materials from the farm. You can buy your favourite foods in the farm shop to take home with you.
Day 3 to 5 - Karlaby Kro
Karlaby Kro is located in the south east corner of the Skåne peninsular in the heart Tommarp, a picturesque village just 5km from the coastal town of Simrishamn. A traditional Skåne Guest House / Inn with 22 beautifully decorated bedrooms and an indoor swimming pool. There are many sandy beaches along the Skåne coastline along with enchanting gardens and cultural attractions. Sites of historical importance scatter the countryside including famous burial grounds, Scandinavia's largest stone formations and the town of Ystad, made famous by the Wallander TV series.
Day 5 to 7 - Häckenberg Slott (Castle)
Häckeberga Slott (Castle) dates in part back to the 14th century and sits on an idlyllic island in Lake Häckeberga, surrounded by Häckeberga nature reserve. The castle, which has been owned by the Tham family since 1824, was praised in the writings of world-famous Swedish botanist and traveller, Linnaeus. The present building, built in 1875, and its grounds offer a myriad of opportunities for enjoyment, cultural and outdoor. The restaurant attracts guests from miles around and the chefs are award winning! When staying here we recommend you ask for an upgrade to the main building.
